Sedalia- Central Missouri Sales Company: Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 09/16/2013

Tuesday, September 17, 2013

Receipts: 673 Last Week: 798 Year Ago: 1067

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers steady to 4.00
lower. The steady cattle were yearlings, or long-time weaned calves,
as buyers remain cautious of the 20 degree temperature swings each day
and night in the nearby forecast. Other than worries about the health
of their purchases, much speculation could also be heard around the
barn about who already has the combine in the field and what yields
local farmers are expecting from their corn and soybeans. Supply and
demand were moderate. Slaughter cows were unevenly steady. Supply
consisted of 88 percent feeders, with steers and bulls comprising
58 percent and heifers at 42 percent. Of those feeders 25 percent
were over 600 lbs.
