The Optimist Club of Marshall held its weekly meeting Aug. 31

The Optimist Club of Marshall held its weekly meeting at 7 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Bloomfield's in Marshall.

The meeting was called to order by Club Vice-President Gene Cassell. The invocation was given by Gary Grote, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

On Sept. 6 the club hosted a new Optimist welcome dinner at the Optimist Shelter at Indian Foothills Park at 5:30 p.m.

On Sept. 14 the Santa Fe Trail Days cookout at the park will be held. Set up will start at 9:30 a.m.

On Sept. 19 there will be a combined board meeting of the new and old boards. It will be held at the office of Robyn Leimkuehler at 5:15 p.m.

On Sept. 26 Cornhusking Education Day will be held at Saline County Fairground. Lunch will be provided for the ones working. Popcorn will be passed out to the children. That evening the Installation Banquet will be held at 6 p.m. at the Methodist Church.

The Kugle Fun Run and Walk will be held at the Marshall High School track.

The morning drawing was won by Gary Grote.

The meeting adjourned with the Optimist Creed.
