Malta Bend FFA Chapter donates sweet corn to Marshall Food Pantry
"Small in numbers, big in actions."
The Malta Bend FFA Chapter certainly lived up to their motto on Friday morning, Aug. 16. As a big way to kick off the year, some members of the chapter, along with school Superintendent John Angelhow and a few volunteers, picked 725 pounds of sweet corn from one of Mid-Missouri Energy's donated food plots. They initially planted two plots, one for MME's employees and the other to donate to the Marshall Community Food Pantry. Members involved in the picking were Second Vice President Dan Kiser and greenhands Lucas Eberting, Larry Edde and Kendal Surber. Community volunteers were Jerry and Larry Surber, Angelhow and Britt Wade.
The chapter would like to give a special thank you to Steve Malan, owner of Pioneer Seed, for donating the seed to the chapter and the Malta Bend FFA Alumni for planting the food plot. They would also like to thank MME for donating the land for the food plot and Central Missouri Ag for donating the chemicals and fertilizers. They also would like to give a special thank you to Angelhow for taking the time to supervise and help deliver the product to the food pantry.
