Missouri State Fair reserve champion lamb shown by Bizy Beavers' Tyler Jenkins

Monday, August 12, 2013

Tyler Jenkins
Tyler Jenkins is the exhibitor of the 2013 Reserve Grand Champion lamb at the Missouri State Fair. His crossbred lamb weighed 140 pounds.

Jenkins is the son of Terry Jenkins and Linda King, and Susan and Tim Pointer. He is a member of the Bizy Beavers 4-H Club in Marshall.

On Aug. 17, Jenkins will sell his lamb in one of 12 lots offered in the Youth in Agriculture (YIA) Sale of Champions. Proceeds from the annual sale benefit both the winning exhibitors and the Missouri State Fair YIA Scholarship Program.

Through the generous support of YIA sponsors, the Missouri State Fair is able to award scholarships to Missouri youth pursuing a degree in an agriculture-related field.

"The success of the Sale is credited to the support from Missouri Youth in Agriculture sponsors," said Wayne Yokley, Chairman of the YIA Committee, and Superintendent of the Sale of Champions. "Their donations help ensure we are able to continue supporting our young people as they grow in agriculture and pursue higher education."

The 2013 Missouri State Fair, themed "Chicks Dig It!," is Aug. 8-18 in Sedalia. For more information about competitions and other events, visit www.mostatefair.com or call 1-800-422-FAIR (3247).
