Marshall Lions Club held its weekly meeting July 1
Marshall Lions Club held its weekly meeting at 12:05 p.m. Monday, July 1, at the Clubhouse in Marshall.
The meeting was called to order by Lion President David Diehm. Lion Dennis Hunter led the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Shirley Mach gave the prayer and opened the meeting.
There were 15 members and one guest in attendance. Dave Phillips was the guest of Lion Mike Davis.
A motion was made by Tut Bellamy and seconded by Davis to approve the minutes of the June 24 meeting.
In old business, Harris led a discussion on the upcoming broom sales both door-to-door and at Santa Fe Trail Days. Lion Burks stated that she would like to make up a broom brochure for distribution. Lion Pete Hollabaugh volunteered to wash the broom trailer prior to the broom sales. The club also has a spot reserved for the broom trailer during Santa Fe Trail Days. Lion Lesa Banks reminded the club that the Run for Sight sponsorship forms should be turned in by Aug. 1.
In new business, Lion Jene Crook reported that she had paid $70 for an All Star Football game ad. A motion was made by Lion Pete Hollabaugh and seconded by Mack not to meet on the fifth Monday this month.
Dave Phillips, publisher at The Marshall Democrat News gave the program, "My Publishing Career and Background."
The meeting adjourned with Mach winning the kitty and leading the closing song.
