The Optimist Club of Marshall held its weekly meeting at 7 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at Bloomfield's Family Restaurant.

Club President Robyn Leimkuehler called the meeting to order. The invocation was given by Paul Collier, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Guests for the meeting were Joe and Pat Jones of Excelsior Springs.

The Bear Creek Blues Festival was held Saturday, June 29, in Slater.

On Saturday, July 13, the club will have optimist summer grilling at Walmart.

Wednesday, Aug. 14, is "Kids Day at the Fair."

Tuesday, Aug. 20, the club is attending the Lyceum Theatre to see Agatha Christy's "A Murder is Announced." Anyone wanting to attend needs to RSVP by Saturday, July 20.

District Optimist Convention will be held Aug. 1-3 in Springfield.

Program for the morning was given by Jeremy Magle, he spoke on the organization Legal Shield.

The morning drawing was won by Wayne McReynolds.

The meeting adjourned with the Optimist Creed.
