One injured in accident Wednesday

A Marshall woman was injured in a two-vehicle traffic accident Wednesday afternoon, June 19, according to a report from Marshall Police Department.

Margaret Murdock, 70, was taken by Saline County Ambulance to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall for treatment, police said.

The accident occurred about 5 p.m. at the intersection of state Highway 240 and Lincoln Avenue in Marshall.

Murdock was eastbound on Highway 240 in a Toyota Sion. Her vehicle was struck from behind by a Hyundai Tiburon driven by Brandy Mobley, 33, of Slater, according to the report.

Witnesses reported Murdock's vehicle was stopped in the roadway with emergency flashers on when Mobley's vehicle approached. Mobley attempted to avoid the collision but struck the side of Murdock's vehicle, according to police.

Marshall Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
