Missouri Valley College to open an Early Childhood Lab School

Missouri Valley College will open an Early Childhood Lab School at First Christian Church in Marshall, and is projected to open Aug. 14.

The goal of the lab school is to provide the MVC and Marshall communities with quality childcare for children ages birth to five years. In addition to providing child care, the lab school will offer experiential learning, practicum and internship opportunities for MVC students. It will feature individual classrooms, indoor and outdoor private play areas and a secure entrance. Melissa Pointer will serve as the interim director of the Missouri Valley College ECLS.

"We are very excited to provide this much-needed service to our students, employees and the Marshall community," said Dr. Sharon Weiser, vice president of academic affairs. "We are also excited about the learning opportunities the lab school will provide our students."

Missouri Valley College "family," including full-time students, faculty, staff and alumni will be offered a discounted rate of $18 per day. For Marshall community members the daily rate is $20. Community spots are limited. The facilities hours of operation will be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. Thursday, June 13. To register visit www.moval.edu and fill out the registration form. A $35 non-refundable fee will be due at the time of registration in order to secure a child's place at the lab school. The registration fee may be dropped off in the business office, located in the Ferguson Center on the MVC Campus, or paid over the phone by calling 660-831-4105. Registration forms will not be available until 8 a.m. on June 13. Registration fees will not be accepted before 8 a.m. on June 13.
