Malta Bend Memorial American Legion Post No. 558 proudly announces the selection of two local high school juniors to attend Boys State and Girls State this summer.

Dan Kiser and Danielle Kiser of Malta Bend High School will attend the 2013 Boys and Girls State programs, to be held at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. Dan Kiser is the son of Bill and Barbara Kiser, and Danielle Kiser is the daughter of Giles and Debbie Kiser. Boys State is June 15-22; Girls State follows June 23-29. The Malta Bend Memorial American Post No. 558 is sponsoring both students.

Successful completion of Boys State and Girls State is recognized by employers, service academies and university admissions boards as an indicator of strong leadership and character traits. Many colleges and universities offer scholarships or admission preference to attendees as well as recognize attendee's work with college course credit.
