The Optimist Club of Marshall held its weekly meeting at 7 a.m. Saturday, May 25, at Bloomfield's in Marshall.
The meeting was called to order by Vice-President Brenda Thomason. The invocation was given by Paul Collier, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Lyle Barfrede attended the meeting and thanked the club for the scholarship he was awarded.
The program for the meeting was given by Clare Norman. She spoke on the Foster Grandparent Program and the joy of working with children. To be a foster grandparent the age requirement is 55 years old or older. There is a need for foster grandparents, and anyone interested can contact Marilyn Rimmer at Marshall Habilitation Center.
Collier reported he and club members Ann Collier, Judy Bushnell, Jim Johnson, John Boyd and Ken Donnell served soda, popcorn and cotton candy to the children at the Butterfield Carnival.
The club held the Optimist International Foundation drawing Saturday, June 1.
The meeting adjourned with the Optimist Creed.
