The Marshall Chapter DAR met Friday, April 5, at Westport Estates in Marshall.
The March meeting was cancelled due to weather. Hostesses were Mary Mark, Jo Malter, Becky Gieringer, Cristine Martin, Jeanne LaRue and Beth Hanes.
After the Opening Ritual, Program Chairman Raylene Cornine introduced Master Gardener Mark McRoberts and his program entitled "Going to Pot," in which he shared his expertise and many useful tips on container gardening.
Regent Judy Frerking announced that Brenda Randolph, Louise "Lucy" Blumhorst, Lita Richtermeyer Jemendiz and Lisa Richtermeyer Shemwell are new (or newly reinstated) members of the Marshall Chapter.
February's meeting minutes were submitted by Secretary Andrea Hatfield and approved. Frerking read the treasurer's reports for February and March in Treasurer Beverly Richtermeyer's absence. Both reports were approved for audit.
The MSSDAR 2013 Eighth Grade Essay Winner is Charlotte Lines, daughter of Kevin and Sheryl Lines, of Marshall.
Frerking announced that a special brick commemorating the Marshall Chapter's 100th year will be placed at state headquarters Roslyn Heights in Boonville. Date to be announced.
The next meeting of the Marshall Chapter will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 10, at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Student awards will be presented.
