Saline County Road and Bridge Supervisor Justin Cowart said roads in the Common Roads District may not be open until Sunday, Feb. 24, if weather conditions prevail.

"If this snow event is anything like the one in 2011, it will be three days," Cowart said at the county commission meeting Thursday, Feb. 21. Cowart said his crew will wait until it is less windy before plowing the streets.

The commission voted to close the courthouse at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21. Presiding Commissioner Tom Stallings said the commission will decide on the morning of Friday, Feb. 22 when to reopen.

Sue Sleeper, filling in for absent County Clerk Debbie Russell, said Ray Bozarth, Sen. Roy Blunt's regional political director for mid Missouri, will be at the courthouse rotunda at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, listening to any constituent wishing to bring forward comments or concerns.

In closing, Northern Commissioner Charlie Guthrie said he wanted to congratulate the organizers of Wednesday night's presentation of the Zimmer/MSDC economic development plan.

"It was a very organized event and I think we have to thank them," Guthrie said. "It shows Saline County off to the other counties."
