The Marshall girls' swim team came in third out five teams Tuesday in the Harrisonville Duals and third among six teams the next day at the Raytown South Duals.
The Lady Owls didn't win any races at Harrisonville, but had six second-place finishes -- including a pair of relays: the 200-yard medley (2:16.76) combo of seniors Amber Lonaker and Kirby Brayman, sophomore Emily Raines and freshman Lauren Nichols and the 400 freestyle (5:03.75) of Lonaker, sophomores Hayley Campbell and Kellen Renard, and freshman Olivia Kays.
Raines (1:13.38) and Lonaker (1:17.36) came in second and third in the 100 butterfly, as did senior Kameron Godsey (1:10.67) and Raines (1:14.37) in the 100 backstroke. Godsey was also second in the 200 individual medley (2:36.53) and Brayman the runner up in the 100 free (1:06.79).
Other third-place finishes were recorded by Lonaker in the 200 free (2:30.99) and Nichols in the 50 free (29.62 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:25.34). Brayman was fourth in the 50 free (29.64) and senior Jana Lappin came in fifth in the 500 free (8:30.71).
The 200 free relay (2:01.51) of Brayman, Campbell, Nichols and Raines also placed fourth.
Marshall had three wins at Raytown South, starting with the 200 medley (2:15.14) of Godsey, Lonaker, Nichols and Campbell. Lonaker got her first blue ribbon of the season in the 100 fly (1:15.06) and Godsey claimed her second in the 100 back (1:10.95).
Godsey, Lonaker, Nichols and Campbell teamed up for a second-place showing in the 200 free relay (2:03.17). Also coming in second was Nichols in the 50 free (29.59) and 100 breast (1:23.76), while third-place performances were turned in by Lonaker in the 200 free (2:28.34) and Godsey in the 50 free (29.60).
Campbell was fifth in both the 50 free (30.73) and 100 free (1:11.97).
Several Lady Owls set personal records during the two days: sophomores Abbi Harding (36.13) and Cheyann King (45.54) in the 50 free, sophomore Tyra Harper in the 200 free (3:12.72), freshman Milisha Butner in the 100 back (2:01.45) and freshman Shuwen Lin in the 100 breast (2:14.85) at Harrisonville and Harding (36.04) and Butner (40.68) in the 50 free, Kays (1:19.72) and Harding (1:20.39) in the 100 free, Harper (1:41.60) in the 100 back and junior Sam Ehrhardt (1:41.49) in the 100 breast at Raytown South.
Marshall will be back in the pool Saturday at the Springfield Invitational.
