FULTON -- Four of the eight entries sent by the Marshall wrestling team to the Jim Wallace Classic at Fulton came away with medals Saturday.
Freshman Aaron Sims (132 pounds) reached the finals with a pin and 11-0 major decision, but MissouriWrestling.com's seventh-ranked grappler then ran into No. 1 Cody Pae of Fulton and was stopped in 3:30 to finish in second place.
None of the other Owls won their first-round matches, although junior Chris Stephenson (152) recovered to notch a 12-5 decision and second-period pin for third place. Two others came in fourth with back-side wins: freshman Austin Ballard (1-6) with a pin and senior Raven White (285) on an injury default.
Also picking up a win for Marshall, with a 12-5 decision in the first wrestleback, was junior Tyler Morrison (152).
Team scores were unavailable.
The Owls will be at home Saturday for an NCMC dual against Hannibal, ranked sixth in Class 3.
