A financial aid officer who was shot Tuesday, Jan. 15, at a private business school in St. Louis has ties to Marshall.
Missouri Valley College officials confirmed Thursday that Greg Elsenrath is a 1990 MVC graduate and former Valley staff member.
Elsenrath was shot in the chest Tuesday at Stevens Institute of Business and Arts. According to a post on the school's Facebook page, Elsenrath is expected to recover.
"We are very happy to report this morning that Financial Aid Director, Greg Elsenrath, came through surgery last night with flying colors and is expected to make a full recovery. Greg appreciates all your thoughts and prayers and we will continue to update him with your kind messages," the post read.
A part-time student, Sean Johnson, 34, has been charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and two firearms violations, according to an Associated Press report.
Johnson allegedly shot Elsenrath and then shot himself, according to AP accounts..
