Chamber seeks approval for new addition to Spring Fling

Thursday, January 17, 2013

Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jill Murray was present at the commission meeting asking to use the courthouse and grounds on May 4, for the Spring Fling.

"What we want to do this year, we're going to try to get some wine vendors to come and do a sip and stroll to go with it," Murray said at the meeting on Thursday, Jan. 17.

Murray noted she needed a letter from the commissioners stating their approval since alcohol would be on the grounds. Presiding Commissioner Tom Stallings suggested tabling the decision until they had further information on the alcohol licenses needed for something like this.

"My only thing is it still has to go through the city council," Murray said.

Southern Commissioner Monte Fenner announced filling at the Blosser bridge, near Malta Bend, would be done today and the bridge would open tomorrow afternoon.

Fenner also said the bridge projects were coming in under budget and the bids for the bridge projects were lower than expected due to the amount of companies bidding.

"That's good for us," Fenner said.

Minutes from the last meeting and payroll were approved.

All commissioners were in attendance.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 9 a.m. in the commission office.
