James B. "Jimmy" White, 69, of Marshall, formerly of Carrollton, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at University Hospital in Columbia.
Cremation Memorial Services will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Virginia Street Baptist Church in Carrollton, with Pastor Wendell Edwards and Donald White officiating. Born Nov. 6, 1943, in Detroit, Mich., he was the son of the late Florine Earl (White) Winfrey. He was a 1962 graduate of Carrollton High School. He worked at S&K in both Carrollton and Lexington and for Fuller Marketing in Carrollton.
He leaves to mourn, his son, James Vincent McClair and his wife, Lorna, of Columbia; stepmother, Mary Lou Alexander of Carrollton; seven brothers, Charles Winfrey of Carrollton, Earl Winfrey of St. Louis, Howard Winfrey of St. Louis, Everett Winfrey of Dubuque, Iowa, John Winfrey of Marshall, J.R. Harker of Marshall and Jimmy "Pluck" Alexander of Las Vegas, Nev.; six sisters, Hazel Harker of Lexington, Martha Standley of Richmond, Bessie Nicholas of Carrollton, Susan Miles of Richmond, Jan Hunt of Marshall and Cheryl Alexander of Columbia; four grandchildren, Amber McClair, Shampayne McClair, Alize' McClair and Jamison Staton; one great-grandchild, Aniyah McClair; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Winfrey and Anna Alexander.
