Robert John Lally, 77, of Marshall, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Marshall, with Dr. Mike Parris officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial with military rites will be in Slater City Cemetery in Slater. Memorials may be made to Marshall Senior Center for Meals on Wheels or Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Born Jan. 9, 1936, in Merriam, Kan., he was the son of the late Albert Aloysius Lally and Hallie Adelia Cobb Lally Jones. On Feb. 11, 1979, he married Sylvia Ann Elder Elson, who survives of the home. He had lived in Marshall the last 10 years moving from Kansas City where he was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller for 32 years, including nine years in the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate of Stanley High School in Stanley, Kan., and attended the Kansas City Art Institute in Kansas City. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Marshall.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Deborah Comstock of Overland Park, Kan., and Karen Hoffman of Lenexa, Kan.; one son, Jason Lally of Egg Harbor, N.J.; one stepson, Mendell Elson of rural Miami; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Lally; and one sister, Reva Jean Johnson.
