Duane Gebhardt, 70, formerly of Glasgow, passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Gamma Road Lodge Nursing Home in Wellsville.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow, with Fr. Jerry Stockman officiating. Visitation is one hour before the service. Burial will take place at a later date in Asbury Cemetery in Keytesville. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary's School in Glasgow or the National Parkinson's Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
Born Aug. 23, 1942, in Keytesville, he was the son of the late Marvin K. and Helen L. (Smith) Gebhardt. He graduated from Glasgow High School in 1960. On March 17, 1972, in Glasgow, he married Karen J. Borges, who survives of the home. He served proudly in the United States Navy Seabees and also served two tours of duty in Vietnam and one in Desert Storm. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer after 15 years in the Navy Reserve. He had worked at Monnig Industries, Armco Steel of Kansas City, Allis Chalmers in Independence, BP Amoco Oil Refinery in Sugar Creek and Salt Lake City, Utah, before returning to Glasgow in 1993. He was employed by ConAgra Foods in Marshall until his retirement in 2007.
In addition to his wife, Karen, of Slater, he is survived by three sons, Brennan Gebhardt and his wife, Tammra, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jordan Gebhardt and his wife, Savannah, of Glasgow, Timothy Gebhardt of Moberly; three daughters, Paige Sanders and her husband, Chris, of Glasgow, Cheryl Schmidt and her husband, Junior, of Glasgow and Susan Termini and her husband, Michael, of Jupiter, Fla.; one brother, Jerry Gebhardt and his wife, Joetta, of Glasgow; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Leroy Gebhardt; and one sister, Linda Korte.
