During Saturday's 40th Marshall Tournament, the Owls had met Versailles wrestlers nine times, winning five of those tilts to take second place by three points.
The Tigers had the edge during Monday's dual at Marshall, posting a 53-21 victory. There were only four rematches, though, and the same grappler won them -- two for each team. Junior Canaan Heinzler's pin of senior Ely Roberts at 138 pounds was the Owls' first victory of the contest, having fallen behind 29-0 on three losses and a pair of defaults.
Junior Chris Stephenson (152 pounds) also beat his Versailles foe for the second time in three days, with a 10-3 decision over junior Marcus Vogt. Senior Nick Harper followed with a third-period pin.
With the likes of senior 182-pound champion Austin Stickels and senior heavyweight finalist Berry Benedick sitting out, Marshall won only once more: a pin by junior Tyler Eidson (195).
Overall, the Tigers (8-2) won eight of the 12 bouts.
The Owls (7-8) get back into tournament action Saturday at the Plattsburg Invitational.
