Paula Kathryn "Kay" (Bartelsmeyer) Best, 71, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Oak Tree Villa's in Jefferson City.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Buchanan Funeral Home Chapel in Monett with Reverend John Nipper officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, in Mt. Vernon. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett.
Born Nov. 4, 1941, in Mammoth Springs, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Reverend Lincoln Bartelsmeyer and Paula Kathryn (Deuschner) Bartelsmeyer. She graduated from Monett High School and then furthered her education at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, where she received her bachelor's degree in education. She then continued her education at CMSU and earned her master's degree and specialist's degree's. She was a teacher and principal for over thirty years at several schools in Missouri, including Orearville, Malta Bend and retired from Newburg Schools.
Survivors include two children, Lori Howard of Jefferson City and Lyle Best, of Bronaugh; three grandchildren; and one sister, Juanita Mermoud of Tacoma, Wash.
