Scenes from the last snowfall of 2012

Monday, December 31, 2012

Snow flakes, falling moderately fast at about 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, speckles the windshield of the photographer's car. Snow began early, and forecasters were estimating the area could receive two to four inches during the day and evening.

A year known for aridity came to a close damply Monday, Dec. 31. Snow began to fall early and became moderately heavy for a couple of hours.

Marshall received several inches of wet snow during the morning hours, with another period of snow predicted for the evening.

Any moisture is welcome after a summer of severe drought. The situation improved during the fall and early winter, but precipitation levels are still far below normal.

The Veterans' Memorial on the southeast corner of the Saline County Courthouse lawn is wrapped in a mantle of snow early Monday, Dec. 31, as 2012 came to a wet end after most of the year was severely dry.

Personally, I'm shocked those snowflakes fell on the windshield of the photographer's car and not the reflectors on his bicycle.

I wimped out today.

Great pics Eric. After another empty promise by our local weather folk of snow for this morning, my day was brightened by these visuals of the old hometown. I would have enjoyed a walk around the square this morning. :)

Thanks! It has been a very pretty day. It's one of those "good" snows. Not too cold. Not too windy.
