Edith Wright, 89, of Columbia, formerly of Marshall Junction, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Lenior Woods in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Sheri Beissenherz, Kevin Tilly, Elliot Royer, Mark Royer, Jonathan Tanner and Ben Tanner. Memorials may be made to New Salem Baptist Church. Born Sept 20, 1923, in Napton, she was the daughter of the late Russell Mitchell and Della Niceley Mitchell. On Jan. 4, 1945, she married Nathan H. Wright, who preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 2003. She had lived in Saline County most of her life, moving to Columbia in 2005. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church and was very active in the Marshall Junction community.
Survivors include three daughters, Cheryl Tilly and her husband, Darold, of Odessa, Nancy Royer and her husband, Ron, of Kansas City and Barb Tanner and her husband, Doug, of Columbia; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edgar Mitchell of Chicago, Ill., and R.W. Mitchell and his wife, Bernadean, of rural Houstonia; two sisters, Hazel Cornine of Marshall Junction and Jean Sims and her husband, J.M., of Marshall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
