Karen Rae Gibler, 56, of rural Marshall, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at First United Methodist Church in Marshall. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Missouri Valley College Building Fund (Activities Center) or Community Cancer Center. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com.
Born Nov. 28, 1956, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth B. Gibler and Dorothy Marie Flaig Gibler. She had lived in Saline County most of her life, was a 1974 graduate of Marshall High School, a 1978 graduate of Missouri Valley College and received a Master's degree in reading in 1983 from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. She was a retired schoolteacher having taught fifth grade for 26 years for Marshall Public Schools and was named Outstanding Teacher of the Year at Bueker Middle School. She was a member of Missouri State Teacher's Association and was co-chair for the Professional Development-Marshall Public Schools. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one sister, Vickie McCloud and her husband, Ed, of rural Marshall; one nephew, Mason McCloud; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
