Six members of the Marshall football team were selected to the all-District 6 squad by the Missouri Football Coaches Association for their performances during the 2012 season. Making the cut were (from left) senior quarterback Alex Maupin, senior defensive end Austin Stickels, senior linebacker Zarrick Williams, senior defensive tackle Darion Lawrence, senior offensive linebacker Berry Benedick and senior running back Marc Plummer. The Owls, under first-year head coach Jon Stockman (far right), improved from 0-10 to 6-5 and finished fourth in the NCMC with a 3-3 record. They advanced to the semifinal round in the Class 4, District 6 Tournament -- a level which previous to the new MSHSAA format was equivalent to the regional round of the playoffs. Benedick, a 6-foot-3, 250-pound tackle, was also on the MFCA all-state third team. Earlier he had been voted onto the Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association/Associate Press all-state second team on the offensive line. (Chris Allen/Democrat-News)
