Valley's Davis makes All-America team

Missouri Valley College's Tyler Davis was named to the America Football Coaches Association's NAIA All-America team for his performance during the 2012 season.

The junior cornerback from University City was the Heart of America Conference's "defensive player of the year" following the Vikings' second straight league title. Valley ended the season with a 12-1 record following a 20-17 loss to Marian (Ind.) in the NAIA Championship Series semifinal round Dec. 1 at Gregg-Mitchell Field.

Davis was fifth in the nation with eight interceptions, also recording 62 tackles -- with a team-high 47 of them solo -- and had return averages of 23.0 yards on kickoffs and 11.5 yards on punts. One of the Vikings' team captains, Davis is the son of former Southern California and Oakland Raiders running back Clarence Davis.

Head coach Paul Troth was also chosen as the HAAC and AFCA/NAIA Region 3 "coach of the year."

Valley had 24 players selected for 26 spots on the all-conference team, listed below:
