BLUE SPRINGS -- The Marshall girls' swim team won five medals and out-scored two of the five teams Tuesday during the Blue Springs South Duals.
Even more significant was that the Lady Owls set 11 personal records and improved their times in two of three relays.
Senior Kameron Godsey had a pair of second-place finishes, in the 200-yard individual medley (2:34.60) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:19.39), and sophomore Emily Raines finished third in the 100 freestyle (1:03.21) and 100 backstroke (1:13.58).
Freshman Lauren Nichols came in fourth in the 100 breast (1:26.95) and took 5.49 seconds off her previous time while placing seventh in the 100 back (1:16.07).
Marshall's fourth-place 200 medley relay (2:15.67) of Raines, Nichols and seniors Amber Lonaker and Kirby Brayman knocked 32.47 seconds off the time it recorded a week earlier in the same pool. The same quartet wound up fifth in the 200 free relay (2:01.70).
The Lady Owls changed half of their 400 free relay from a week earlier, sophomore Kellen Renard and senior Jana Lappin joined by freshman Hayley Campbell and sophomore Abbi Harding, and sliced its time 34.80 seconds to 5:20.01 while placing sixth.
Harding, junior Madison Gaba and freshman Bethany Choate each recorded a pair of personal bests, while Renard, Lappin, junior Sam Ehrhardt and freshman Milisha Butner also improved upon previous performances in one event.
Marshall will take part in the Independence Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
