Mary E. Harris, 90, of rural Miami, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at her home.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Pallbearers will be Shane Eddy, Roy Eddy, Mike Layton, Charles Harris, Steve Harris and James Harris. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Powell, Gatlin Layton, Carson Eddy, Mackenzie Eddy and Cooper Layton. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association or the Relay for Life in care of Weiker Funeral Home.
Born Sept. 20, 1922, in Slater, she was the daughter of the late Elvin R. and Viola Belt Miller. On Jan. 31, 1941, in Rolla, she married Leonard M. Harris, who preceded her in death on May 16, 1986. She was a member of Slater Christian Church. She was also a member of Sigma Delta Pi Sorority, and was a lifelong Democrat. She worked for the Slater Chamber of Commerce, Harris & Thompson Electric and she and her husband owned and operated Western Auto in Slater for a number of years.
She is survived by a daughter, Melody Eddy of rural Miami; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Elvin Ray Miller, Jr.
