Two people were killed Monday morning, Dec. 3, in a head-on collision on state Highway 240, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Sherry L. Hess, 60, of Slater, was pronounced dead at 8:35 a.m. at the scene by Saline County Coroner William Harlow.

Jeremy W. Rader, 20, of Gilliam, was pronounced dead by Harlow at Fitzgibbon Hospital about an hour after the crash.

The accident occurred shortly before 8 a.m. a little more than one mile south of Route P.

Hess was traveling westbound in a 2004 Jeep when she apparently went over the center line and collided with a 1993 Jeep driven by Rader, according to the report.

Both drivers were wearing safety devices.

EMS crews from Slater and Marshall responded to the scene. Saline County sheriff's deputies assisted at the scene.
