Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Brookings. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family through www.rudesfuneralhome.com.
Born June 14, 1917, in Parker, S.D., she was the daughter of the late Albert and Alida (Foss) Klinger. She moved to Sioux Falls, S.D., with her parents at the age of three. She received her education at Emerson, Lowell and Washington High School, and graduated from Parker High School in 1935. She was employed as a bookkeeper in Parker and Sioux Falls and also attended Nettleton College. On Feb. 5, 1942, in Sioux Falls, she married Norman Koehn, who survives. They later moved to Centerville, S.D., where they owned and operated a food store and a bookkeeping service. They moved to Brookings, S.D. in 1960. She was a member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Brookings Extension Club, Faculty Women's Association, Wally Byam Caravan Club and AARP. While living in Centerville she held many positions in Sunday School, VFW Auxiliary, Cub Scouts and 4-H. After their retirement, she spent many winters in Arizona, Florida and Texas. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Norma Ganter and her husband, Darryl of Brookings, SD, Rod Koehn and his wife, Joy of Bloomington, Minn., Douglas Koehn and his wife, Mica of Marshall; six grandchildren, Chelsea, Christopher, Chanelle, Chadron, Deanne and Dawn; and two great-grandchildren, Jorden and Abigail.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Henry Verne Klinger; and one sister, Lillian Schoon.
