Robert J. "Bob" Hisle, 87, of Marshall, formerly of Miami, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Mar-Saline Manor in Marshall.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be in Miami Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Miami Cemetery. Born Feb. 5, 1925, in Miami, he was the son of the late Ernest Alvin Hisle and Arline Williams Hisle. A lifelong resident of Saline County, he graduated from Miami High School in 1943. He was a Marine Corps veteran of both World War II, in the Pacific Theater, and the Korean War, retiring in 1962. He graduated magna cum laude from Missouri Valley College in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. On Aug. 8, 1953, he married Lucille Marie Pittman who survives of the home. He was a farmer in the Miami area for 17 years before being appointed as postmaster in the Miami U.S. Post Office, retiring from there in 1993. He supported the Miami community as a member and past president of the Miami R-1 school board, as assistant scoutmaster for Miami's Boy Scout Troop 40, and as a leader and member of Miami Lions Club, Miami Cemetery Association and Friends of Miami organization. As a veteran he was an active member of VFW Post No. 2646 in Marshall, American Legion Post No. 91 in Slater and Saline County Leathernecks. He also participated in local politics through the Saline County Democrats Club and as a member of the State Democrat Club.

In addition to his wife of 59 years, Lucille, survivors include three sons, Rob Hisle and his wife, Lori, of Stilwell, Kan., Rick Hisle and his wife, Sarah, of Sedalia and Larry Hisle and his wife, Elisabeth, of Stilwell; son-in-law, Burt Chevalier of Marshall; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, William Hisle of Miami; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Diana Chevalier; and one brother, James Harold Hisle.
