The Lions Club held its weekly meeting at 12:05 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at the Club House in Marshall.
Lion President Nancy Harris called the meeting to order. Lion Jene Crook lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Shirley Mach gave the prayer and opened the meeting.
There were 14 members in attendance for the meeting.
A motion was made by Lion Leslie Sturhahn and seconded by Lion Dennis Hunter to approve the minutes of the Oct. 22 meeting.
Lion Crook reported on the Peace Poster contest stating that her 4-H contact had not had good luck with participation. The club voted to order a new Peace Poster kit in January 2013 so the 4-H groups had a longer time to work on the project.
Lion Crook stated the 75th anniversary committee met on Oct. 29. She gave a brief overview on dates, locations, entertainment and speakers. A motion was made by Lion Dennis Hunter and seconded by Lion Andy Roehrs to have the anniversary celebration on Jan. 19, 2013, at the Martin Community Center.
Lion Mike Davis and spoken with Rev. Wayne Doolan about the Salvation Army bell ringing this year.
Lion Crook stated that LCIF is helping the states in the northeast that were affected by the hurricane, but could use more funds. Club members can donate at www.lionsclubs.org.
The meeting adjourned with Lion Davis winning the kitty and leading the closing song.
