Optimist Club meeting held July 21

The Optimist Club of Marshall held its weekly meeting at 7 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at Bloomfields.

The meeting was called to order by President Jeff Stubblefield. The invocation was given by Gary Grote followed by the Pledge to the Flag.

Guests for the meeting were April Heymeyer, Leslie Huston and Joyce Branson.

A zone meeting was held Thursday, July 19, at Wood & Huston Bank Community Room. The price of the meal was $5.

The fourth quarter conference was held Aug. 16-18 in Jefferson City.

Ken Donnell gave a brief report on the Optimist International Convention that was held in Milwaukee, Wis.

The program for the meeting was given by Heymeyer and Huston. They spoke on the "Shoes that Fit" program they are involved in. It is a program to help needy children obtain shoes.

Branson thanked the club for the money that was raised from the Bowl-a-thon.

The morning drawing was won by Wayne McReynolds.

The meeting adjourned with the Optimist Creed.
