Slater Wildcat Boosters have successful fundraisers

Monday, November 12, 2012

The Slater Wildcat Booster held two fundraisers during the 2012 Homecoming weekend.

On Friday, Oct. 12, Elmer Hare Ford Sales and the Wildcat Boosters teamed up for the Drive One 4 UR School fundraiser. Approximately 250 people showed their support of the Slater High School athletes by driving a Ford car, truck or SUV and filling out a quick survey. Each driver amounted to a $20 donation from Ford Motor Company. Many of the Hare Ford employees donated their time to help raise money for the school. In addition, the student athletes' names were entered into a drawing for each person they had given a voucher to that came and drove a Ford. Caitlyn Clements won the drawing and won $100 for her efforts.

Saturday, Oct. 13, the boosters held the Second Annual 5K Run/Walk. Many participants braved the wet weather and finished the run/walk. Each pre-registered participant received a shirt and the reward of finishing the race.

The fundraisers raised approximately $5,000, which will be used to assist athletic teams that are on a rotation for new uniforms every four years.
