Irvin Robert Leimkuehler, 91, of Garden City, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Harrisonville under the direction of Dickey Funeral Home in Harrisonville. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at the funeral home. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Our Savior Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. Born Jan. 15, 1921, in Saline City, he was the son of the late Edward and Emma (Bender) Leimkuehler. On May 2, 1948, in Slater, he was united in marriage to Ramona Kirkpatrick, who preceded him in death on May 8, 1971. Later he was united in marriage to Mildred Maxine Beaver on July 14, 1979, in Kansas City, Kan., who survives. He was employed as an assembler for General Motors Fairfax Plant in Kansas City, Kan., until his retirement on Feb. 1, 1980. After his retirement, he helped his brothers paint houses. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Harrisonville, a former member and elder of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Kansas City, Kan., the UAW Union Local No. 31 and was an Army veteran of World War II.
In addition to his wife, Maxine Leimkuehler, he is survived by two sons, Paul T. Leimkuehler of Tightwad and Ray A. Leimkuehler of Prarie Du Sac, Wis.; a stepson, Daryl Beaver of Walker, Iowa; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents and his first wife, Ramona, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Clarence, Edward, Eugene, Leroy and Leland; and three sisters, Edna, May and Olinda.
