The filing dates for the Sweet Springs Board of Education election were set by the district during a meeting Thursday, Nov. 8.
Two seats will be up for election in 2013, currently held by Doug Vogelsmeier and Donald Boland.
The election will be held April 2, 2013, and there are four filing requirements. Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, at least 24 years old, a resident taxpayer of the district who has resided in Missouri for one year prior to the election, and must not be a registered sex offender or a person required to be a registered sex offender.
Board members approved beginning candidate filing at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11. It will end at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013.
During the meeting, Superintendent Donna Wright briefed the board on progress for the proposed track.
"The companies that we're interested in giving us a price need a survey," she said, adding a survey has been done with Allstate Consultants during a building project except for the area where the track would be located. "We're going to get that done and be able to move forward ..."
Board members did approve a consent agenda, which included approving Nancy McKeage, Pamela Coslet and Pat Duffey as Foster Grandparents. Principals reported October attendance rates of 97.35 percent and 97.15 percent for the elementary school, as well as junior high and high school, respectively.
All board members were present. The next regular meeting is scheduled to begin at roughly 8:30 p.m. Dec. 13, directly following a Christmas concert.
