Haydren Aurel Harper, 99, of Fontana, Kan., formerly of the Sweet Springs area, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kan.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Sweet Springs with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Born April 29, 1913, in rural Sweet Springs, he was the son of the late Robert Elonzo Harper and Dinnie Ozella Sims Harper. On Feb. 29, 1936, he married Ruby Mildred Menegali, who survives. He was raised in the rural Sweet Springs area, and had lived in the Fontana area for more than 50 years. He worked as a sheet metal worker for many years, and farmed on and off all of his life.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Donnie Harper of rural Fontana, Kan.; one daughter, Bonnie Lou Hayward of rural Fontana, Kan.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson; two sisters, Nellie Edith Peterman and Ora Leona Puckett; and one brother, Samuel Orville Elonzo Harper.
