Saline County Election Statistics for 2008 through 2012
Registered voters and voter turnout has varied in Saline County from 2008 to 2012. The General Elections have the highest turnout by far, with 58 percent for each presidential election. However, more voters were registered and came to vote in the 2008 General Election than in the 2012.
On average, out of 12 elections, 15,322 voters were registered in Saline County. Approximately, 4225 voters participated on average. The special election of the Blackwater School District Levy was not included in the chart because registered voters was unknown.
County Clerk Debbie Russell said the reason for the change in registered voters over the years "would be if there is an increase, there are new registered voters or those who were inactive have provided the information necessary to make them once again active. We also have a change of numbers due to the college students registering to vote and then leave Saline County."
"The County Clerk's office also conducts a mandatory canvass every two years which means sending all current registered voters a verification notice requesting verification of address asking for any changes applicable to the registering process," Russell said. "For those voters who have moved, the post office will forward those notices. We go through an intense process for trying to locate the voter."
