Kenneth Paul (K.P.) Laxson, 83, of Marshall, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at Mar-Saline Manor in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery. Born May 2, 1929, in Marshall, he was the son of the late Paul K. Laxson and Violet M. Pace Laxson, and lived most of his life in Saline County. As a child he lived in Blackwater and graduated from high school in Pilot Grove. On July 29, 1949, he married Barbara Jean Jeffress, and they then moved to Arrow Rock and then Marshall. As a young man, he played both basketball and baseball on city leagues. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman hunting deer, turkey, quail, geese and fishing for catfish. He retired from Teamster's Union Local 41. His work life included driving a truck for Coca-Cola, construction of Truman Dam and the Thomas Hill Power Plant.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Jeffress) Laxson; his children, Deborah Lansford and her husband, Richard, Patricia Laxson and her partner, Tom Holland, Cindy Lou Laxson Kuethe and Douglas Laxson; his grandchildren, Jill Lawson and her husband, Patrick, Jennifer Laxson, Daniel Kuethe, Courtney Stice and her husband, Roger, Nicholas Laxson and Natalie Laxson; 11 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Joan Ussery and her husband, Kenneth, and Joyce Hall and her husband, Dwain; along with several nieces.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Baylie Ann Bakert.
