HANNIBAL -- The Marshall boys' swim team saw three personal records fall Saturday during a dual meet at Hannibal.
The Owls only had three of their four members present, so the Pirates easily won the points contest, 92-18. However, Marshall did take first in one of the races, by freshman Jesse Corkill (23.59) in the 50-yard freestyle.
Corkill's fourth victory of the season was only .04 seconds off his personal best, but he lowered his time by 1.78 seconds while coming in the second in the 100 free (52.94). Sophomore Wathal Kays (59.58) was third in that event, 3.02 seconds faster than his previous time, and sliced 1.88 seconds off his mark while finishing second in the 100 backstroke (1:18.26).
Junior Ben Corkill was fourth in the 50 free (43.40) and sixth in the 100 free (1:44.53).
Marshall is competing this week in the Independent League Championships at Kansas City.
