Marshall head girls' basketball coach Tony Willis was finally rewarded for his persistence in The Marshall Democrat-News' Pigskin Pick 'Em contest, and his faith in the Owls.
Only three of 60 players last week correctly sided with Marshall in its rematch at Moberly, the Owls pulling off a 20-17 overtime win. Willis was among them as he swept through the high school and college games. That put him in a tie with Marshall's Michael Morton.
Both correctly thought Oakland would beat the Kansas City Chiefs for the sixth year in a row at Arrowhead Stadium, but Willis was 16 points closer to the final score of the Raiders' 26-16 victory to claim a large Pizza Hut pizza.
Curtis Lembke, Greg Rudd and Harry Lightfoot were in the top five, each winning on nine of 10 prep and college picks.
The final week of the contest will feature 10 college games, with the grand prize winner announced Monday.
