Chillicothe extended its win streak to 12 matches Thursday by ruining Senior Night for the Marshall boys' soccer team with a pair of second-half goals for a 2-1 non-conference decision.
Sophomore Isai Trujillo banged a shot off the goalkeeper for his 20th score of the season to put the Owls in front with 10 minutes remaining in the first half.
It took 30 minutes for the Hornets to catch up, senior Grant Peterson scoring off a corner kick. They went ahead when junior Steven Cooper got a one-on-one crack at the Marshall net with seven minutes left in the match.
Chillicothe (17-3), No. 13 in the state Class 1 rankings, held a 10-4 edge in shots on goal.
The Owls (11-9) will play NCMC rival Moberly for the third time this season, claiming a pair of 1-0 decisions, in the Tuesday's semifinal match in the Class 2, District 8 Tournament at Kirksville.
