Joseph David Garner, 89, of Chesterfield, formerly of Sedalia and Longwood, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at Delmar Gardens on the Green in Chesterfield.

Graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall, with Rev. Duane Davis officiating. Friends may call the day of the service at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Longwood Presbyterian Church. Born May 2, 1923, in Howard County, near Glasgow, he was the son of the late Charles Whaley Garner and Leona Bell Whitlock Garner. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He had owned and operated the Longwood Grocery Store from 1951 to 1974. He had lived in Chesterfield the last seven years, moving from Sedalia, previously living in Longwood. He was a Presbyterian.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
