Lloyd J. Best, 94, of Sedalia, formerly of rural Marshall, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Deacon Joe Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Marshall Senior Center. Born May 21, 1918, in Mayview, he was the son of the late John R. Best and Ethel Decker Best. On Nov. 15, 1940, he married Mary L. Cromley, who preceded him in death on Jan. 30, 2001. On Feb. 13, 2002, he married Betty Bennett Cramer, who survives of the home. He had lived in Saline County most of his life, moving to Sedalia in 2002. He worked for Jackson Appliance in Marshall, was a school bus driver for Blackwater 100 School District and was a farmer. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Richard Best of rural Marshall; one stepson, Ronald Cramer of Centralia; four grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, I.D. Best and Lee Best; one sister, Dollie Best Woods; and two stepdaughters, Carolyn Barker and Sandy Cramer.
