William Robert (Bill) Grace III, of Marshall, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Memorial visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Inurnment with military rites will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kan. Born Feb. 14, 1953, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late William Robert Grace Jr. and Laverna Jones Grace. He graduated from a suburban St. Louis High School and received a bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University. In 1981 he married Amy Lane, who survives of Marshall. Bill was a United States Air Force Veteran, serving in the 351st Strategic Missile Wing at Whiteman Air Force Base, where he attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He then served as a professor in the business department at University of Central Missouri (formerly Central Missouri State University) until moving to Marshall in 1991. From 1991-2010 he was a professor in the business department of Missouri Valley College where he was also in charge of the Students In Free Enterprise. Through the S.I.F.E. program, he became involved in helping recognize local businesses that exemplified the core values of the program. Bill owned and operated Grace Brothers Restaurant until his health began failing earlier this year.
Survivors include one son, Will Grace; two daughters, Brandi Souder and Hayley Kraft, both of Marshall; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Tom Grace of Norfolk, Va., and Martin Grace of Cape Girardeau; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
