Organizers say the Lesley Cooper Benefit Dinner, hosted by Malta Bend School District, had a significant turnout of participants Saturday, Sept. 22.

Thirty-three supporters came out for the dinner, 5K run/walk and silent auction that benefits Cooper. She's the school nurse and receptionist, has four children who are Malta Bend students, and was diagnosed with Stage 4 Leukemia.

The 5K brought in $150 and approximately $1,500 was collected from the free-will donation dinner. The auction, with 95 items, brought in more than $2,300.

Organizers said they were grateful for the support. The Lesley Cooper Fund has been established to help with bills and expenses. Anyone interested in contributing can contact Debbie Kiser at Malta Bend Schools, 660- 595-2371.
