The Marshall square will dazzle visitors Saturday, Oct. 6, as the second annual Marshall Democrat-News Car and Motorcycle Show brings the colorful gleam of sleek machines to the downtown area.

And if the weather forecast holds, car and motorcycle show fans will have a crisp fall day to enjoy the festivities with some sunshine to show vehicular works of art in their best light.

The show will begin at 9 a.m. Vehicle registration ends at noon. Awards will be presented at 2 p.m.

The event was created in 2011 as a way to bring more people to downtown Marshall, hopefully to the benefit of local merchants.

Publisher Shelly Arth said in addition to the show itself she hopes the raffle prize of a 50-inch LED digital smart TV will entice even more people to attend this year.

In addition to the TV, MU football tickets and other prizes will be given away in drawings. No purchase is necessary for the drawings, and winners need not be present.

As with last year's event, proceeds from the 50/50 raffle, face painting and bounce house will be donated to the Community Food Pantry.

Marshall's Market on the Square farmers market has extended its season so car show visitors will also have fresh produce, meet, baked goods and crafts to peruse.
