Marshall Lions Club held its weekly club meeting at 12:05 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at the Club House in Marshall.
President Nancy Harris called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Mike Davis gave the prayer and opened the meeting.
There were 17 members and one guest in attendance. Tom Stallings was guest of Lion Suzette Large.
A motion was made by Lion Davis and seconded by Lion Dennis Hunter to approve the minutes of the Sept. 10 meeting.
Lion Hugh Harvey reported that the Buddy Pack delivery was going well and he will deliver with Lion Brad Straub this week.
Lion Lesa Banks stated she would work on the Meals on Wheels schedule for next week.
Lion Jene Crook reported on the Peace Poster Contest, stating she had given the packet to Amanda Struchtemeyer, 4-H leader.
Lion Crook also reported that the new Sweet Springs Lions Club has six charter members, and that the Marshall club may need to purchase the banner for the club. She also asked for club members to help on the club's 75th anniversary celebration. Lion Burks, Diehm and Klein volunteered.
Lion Harris read a thank-you letter from the Chamber of Commerce thanking the club for having the 5K walk/run in conjunction with Santa Fe Trail Days, and for collecting money for the fireworks display. She also read a thank-you letter from Leader Dog thanking the club for its $200 donation.
County Commissioner Tom Stallings gave the program, "Out of State Use Tax."
The meeting adjourned with Lion Karl Kirchhoff winning the kitty of $4 and leading the closing song.
