Lewis S. Egan, 77, of rural Shackelford, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery in rural Shackelford. The family will receive friends at the home of Mike and Debbie Mills 1124 E. Eastwood in Marshall to celebrate Lewis's life. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Mt.

St. Mary's Cemetery Association or Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice, in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. An online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.

Born Oct. 22, 1934, in rural Shackelford, he was the son of the late James C. Egan Sr. and Marianna Connor Egan. He had lived in the rural Shackelford area most of his life and was a 1952 graduate of Malta Bend High School, and attended Arlington State University in Texas. On June 5, 1953, he married Donna L. Smith, who survives of the home. He returned to farming in 1964 and remained a farmer his entire life, as well as being a licensed pilot and electrician. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, a third and fourth degree member of Knights of Columbus and had served on

the Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery Board.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Debra Mills and her husband, Mike, Karla Egan and her husband, Ben Jones, and Kathi Smith, all of Marshall; nine grandchildren, Steven Mills, Stacey King, Angie Woods, Mike Mills II, Brian Oster, Lance Oster, Sofia Jones, Erlan Jones and Nastja Jones; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ann Wilson, Agnes Tobin and Helen Boedeker, all of Marshall; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, James L. Egan; and one brother, James C. Egan Jr.
