Kingdom City - Callaway Livestock Center: Cattle Auction Report for 10/02/12

   Compared to last week, Lightweight steer calves under 400 lbs sold mostly 
steady, with 400-550 lb steer calves selling weak to 5.00 lower on a light test, 
with instances 8.00-10.00 lower on steer calves weighing 450-550 lbs.  Heifer 
calves weighing under 450 lbs sold steady, with 450-600 lb heifer calves trading 
weak to 5.00 lower.  Yearling feeders were lightly tested and in short supply 
with a few sales selling with a lower undertone.  Slaughter cows sold firm to 
2.00 higher.  Feeder supply was mostly calves weighing 400-550 lbs with over-all 
quality not as attractive as last week.  Demand was moderate with feeder supply 
55 percent steers and bulls, 45 percent heifers and 18 percent feeders over 600 
lbs.  Slaughter cows made up 20 percent of the total receipts.
